Copy and Paste Your Drawing

The copy-and-paste tool saves you tons of time in making frame animations. You can even create a short animation with the copy-and-paste tool. In this section, we will show you how to use the copy-paste tool.

How to Use the Selection Tool in Animation Desk

Cut and Copy

  1. Open the selection tool
  2. Select an area that you desire to cut and copy
    3-1 Cut: If you want to cut a part of the drawing from the canvas, tap the Scissors button.
    3-2 Copy: If you want to copy a part of the drawing from the canvas, tap the Copy button.

Transform and Rotate the selection

After you cut or copy a part of the drawing, tap and drag the button in the bottom-right corner to resize the selection. Tap the button in the top-right to rotate the selection. You can transform and rotate the image before pasting it on.

Paste Drawing on a Different Frame

After you cut or copy part of the drawing, scroll to the other frame in the timeline. Tap the Paste button to paste the drawing.

Paste Drawing on a different Layer

Make sure you collapse the layer panel. Cut or copy a part of the drawing, and select a layer that you want to post it. Tap the Paste button to paste the drawing.

Paste Horizontally, Paste Vertically

Before pasting an image, tap the Horizontal or the Vertical button to flip the image.

Let’s Try it Out: Flying Bee

Can you draw a flying bee? Create a 6 frame sequence. Enable the onion skin mode. Now draw a bee on the first frame. Copy the bee and past it in the second frame. Please move the bee a little bit forward. Repeat this action to complete the flying bee animation.
